Access Statement

Introduction

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.

Situated on the perimeter of the historic city of Truro, Cliftons Guest House is the perfect place to stay, whether you are visiting for business or leisure. We are a 5-10 minute walk from the city centre of Truro.

The Victorian Building is approximately onehundred and twenty years old and has recently been refurbished. Whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests there are some period features of the hotel which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility.

 

Pre – arrival

We are located at 46 Tregolls Road, Truro, TR1 1LA

The nearest railway station is Truro, which is approximately1.5 miles away from our porperty. Taxis are available at the station.

 

Car parking and arrival

There is parking at the back of the building which is accessed through Spargos Lane, leading off Tregolls Road approximately 50 yards past our sign.

The car park has a paved surface and is lit at night by a motion sensor light.

There are 4 steps to the car park entrance door with wrought iron handrails on both sides. Assistance can be given with luggage.

To acess the property from Tregolls Road, there are 5 wide stone steps at the bottom of the graden. There is no hand rail.

After the steps the garden path winds upwards through the garden to the front door.

There are 3 stones steps to the front door from the garden. There is no hand rail.

There is no vehicular access from Tregolls Road.

 

Welcome Area

Guests are welcomed in the hallway on the ground floor, which is reached by going down a steep flight of stairs from the car park entrance.

 

Bedrooms and bathrooms

None of the bedrooms have level access from outside the building. Our bedrooms are on 2 floors and are accessed via staircases as we do not have any lifts. The main staircase is narrow and steep and has handrails on both sides.

One of our bedrooms has a single bed, four have 4ft 6 double beds and one has a 6ft super king bed, which can be converted in two single beds as a twin. All bedrooms have bedside tables, hanging spaces for clothes and work desks with chairs. All of the rooms have a main light in the bedroom and another in the bathroom, all of our bedrooms have either bedside lamps or wall reading lamps. The majority of our bathrooms have a light over the mirror for additional light.

Our beds are made up with microfibre or feather and down duvets and microfibre pillows, the decorative pillows on all beds are feather which can be removed if required.

All rooms have 32 inch televisions and come equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryers, which are located in draw of either the desk or bedside table.

All of our rooms are en-suite with showers.

 

Breakfast Room/ Lounge area

The breakfast room / lounge area are situated on the ground floor.

 

Customer Toilets

A small unisex customer toilet with a small sink can be found at the far end of the hallway on the ground floor. There is no level access from outside the building.

 

Public areas- halls, stairs, landings, corridors

All hallways and stairwell areas are well lit and carpeted.

The ground floor corridor, breakfast room and public toilet are tiled. All other areas are carpeted throughout the hotel.

The whole building is centrally heated and the bedroom radiators are individually controllable.

The hotel is fitted with a fully addressable fire alarm system.

 

Garden

The terrace outside the main entrance at the top of the garden is available for guests use. It is furnished with a teak bench, chairs and a table. Cushions are availbale on request.

 

Smoking area

We have two designated smoking areas outside of the hotel as it is against the law to smoke within the hotel. The first is the terrace outside the main front door. An ashtray is kept in the porch.

 

Additional Information

There are evacuation plans on the back of each guest bedroom door.

The fire assembly point is in the car park at the rear of the building. There is clear signage around the hotel for your nearest fire exits.

Luggage storage is available on request.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. You can obtain the password from the information sheet at the back of the guestroom door or the staff.

The nearest hospital with an A&E Department (Royal Cornwall Hospital) is 3.2 miles away and the nearest doctor’s surgery is Truro Health Park on Infirmery Hill.
